The Asia-Pacific Conference on
Giftedness (APCG) is organised under the aegis of the Asia-Pacific Federation of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (APF-WCGTC), which was established in Manila in 1990. It became affiliated to the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) in 1994. Members of the Asia-Pacific Federation come from Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. The APCG held biennially, alternating with the biennial conference of the WCGTC.
The
10th APCG is jointly organised by the
National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University and the
Gifted Education Branch (GE Branch) of the Ministry of Education, Singapore.
National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University
NIE, an autonomous institute of Nanyang Technological University, is the sole teacher
education institute in Singapore. It is an integral part of the education service and is committed to its vision of being an institute of distinction through developing a world-class institute renowned for its excellence in teacher education and educational research. NIE is organised on a programme-driven matrix structure with 12 Academic Groups working with two main programme offices and two research centres. With a staff strength of about 400
academic staff, NIE graduates some 2,000 new teachers and provides professional development programmes for about 16,000 teachers every year.

Gifted Education Branch, Ministry of Education
The GE Branch, Education Programmes Division, oversees the education of gifted pupils in Singapore. Through the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) and School-Based Gifted Education (SBGE), it seeks to nurture gifted individuals to their full potential to prepare them for responsible leadership and service to country and society. The GE Branch conducts training for teachers of gifted and high-ability pupils and supports them with exemplary resources. The
branch also provides consultation services to schools in all matters related to gifted education.
